The Fourth of July kicks off the summertime in Cape May and is a busy time of the year! Expect crowds, especially the evening of the fireworks show.
Independence Day Parade
Cape May’s Independence Day Parade usually takes place on the Saturday closest to July 4th and runs along Beach Avenue.
Cape May City Fireworks
Cape May’s annual fireworks display takes place on July 4th, weather permitting. Firework launch across from Congress Hall, from a barge a quarter-mile offshore. Enjoy a fantastic view of the show from the beach, promenade, or any property facing Beach Avenue.
In the event of rain, fireworks may be rescheduled or canceled.
If you come by car, plan to arrive early or sit in traffic for a while. Parking can be hard to find. Once the fireworks are over, it’s congested along Beach Avenue and the promenade — a good opportunity to grab some ice cream and wait out the crowds!
Lower Township Fireworks
If you’ll be bayside (Lower Township, including North Cape May & Villas), you can generally look for fireworks the day before or after Cape May City’s. Pick a spot on the beach. We recommend a chair or towel since the sand can be chilly after sunset! It can get crowded, so expect to park and walk a couple blocks.
