Cape May’s annual Independence Parade was held Saturday, July 3rd. The parade commenced at 1pm outside of Convention Hall on Beach Avenue. Parade participants included bands, antique cars, fire engines, costumed performers, local groups and organizations, and members of the US Armed Forces.
From the beginning, the Hotel Cape May was doomed. It opened in 1908, several years behind schedule and 100 percent over budget – its final cost of $1 million was nearly unimaginable in those days.
