The time has finally come: the leaves are crunching beneath your feet, the corn stalks and gourds are taking up residence along the Washington Street Mall, and most exciting of all, it’s Halloween season!
October in Cape May truly is spooky and magical. There’s walking ghost tours, amazing home decorations, the annual Halloween parade, and so much more! On your list of things to do, be sure to stop include a visit to the Emlen Physick Estate to check out the annual Create Your Own Scarecrow entries.
Scarecrow Alley is displaying an excellent turnout this season, and we went and photographed a few scarecrow creations to give you a sneak peek!

While all of these wonderful creations are on display, you have the opportunity to vote for your favorite scarecrows! Voting is open through October 31st and takes place inside the Carriage House. There is a grand prize of $200 granted to the winner of the People’s Choice award, so be sure to go and vote. Winners will be chosen on Friday, November 2nd.
In 2017, the winner of the People’s Choice Scarecrow was awarded to the West Cape May Elementary School for their entry “Captain Kid.”
Good luck to all the participants, and Happy Halloween!
