On February 8, the Cape May Brewing Co. – known for brews like Cape May IPA, Coastal Evacuation, and Devil’s Reach – is releasing Always Ready, a northeast pale ale brewed in honor of the U.S. Coast Guard. “Always Ready” is the English translation of the Coast Guard’s motto Semper Paratus.
So what’s the beer like? Hoppy, according to the Brewing Co’s blog, with aromas of orange and tangerine zest. And while hops lovers are expected to like it, Always Ready was crafted to have low bitterness, making it drinkable even for people like me who usually go for their Honey Porter. The release event will be February 8 from 5-8pm. Starting with that event, active-duty and retired USCG members will enjoy $1 off pints year-round.
Cape May is home to the fifth-largest Coast Guard base and training center, the only enlisted accession point. Cape May was proclaimed a Coast Guard City in 2015.
