When I’m at the beach sitting in my favorite chair, reading a page turner or taking a walk, the last thing I want to do is leave to fill my car’s parking meter – and I know I’m not the only one who feels that way! The amazing new Parkmobile app that’s recently launched in Cape May solves the issue of ever having to leave the beach; you can stay relaxing by the sea while you pay your meter on your phone.
Parkmobile, LLC and the City of Cape May teamed up to launch a program that allows customers to use their phones to pay for parking at close to 1,200 on-street parking spaces downtown and along the beach. Parkmobile went live in Cape May starting on May 26 and is attracting many local users because of its convenience, easy-to-use interface and practicality. You can download the Parkmobile app via iPhone, Android, and Windows.
To use the Parkmobile system, customers can register for free through the downloaded app or at www.parkmobile.com. Once registered, you can use the mobile app, internet, or call the toll-free number listed on the Parkmobile meter stickers (the green tags located on the screens of various parking meters through Cape May).
After setting up an account, customers are able to start using the system with their registered mobile device. Parking enforcement officers can see that a motorist has paid with Parkmobile using a wireless handheld device. It’s important to note that when using this app, time limits on meters do still apply – so the app can’t allow users to buy more time than allotted by the meters.
You can even opt to receive an alert 15 minutes before your parking session will expire to remind you it’s time to pay again. This is my boss’s favorite feature, calling the alert system “very easy and reassuring.” I personally am notorious at forgetting when my parking meter expires, so this reminder would actually save my bank account.
Parkmobile’s services have, so far, been adopted by over 6 million users and are available in more than 2,000 locations. Cape May purchasing agent Dan Shustack has called it “the wave of the future” in an interview for ShoreNewsToday. Download this app today and check walking to and paying your car’s meter in Cape May off your to-do list forever.
