Snapshots & Results of the Annual Cape May City Halloween Parade

On Sunday October 20th, crowds lined the streets eager to see the lively annual Cape May City Halloween Parade travel from Perry Street down Carpenters Lane to Ocean Street, then to Washington Street and end at Cape May MAC.

Along with marching bands and mummers, many creatively costumed individuals trotted down the road dressed in outlandish outfits that referenced anything from film, spooky lore, and Cape May itself – incorporating pets, people, and vehicles.

Kacie Rattigan of the City of Cape May told us, “Cape May’s Halloween Parade is a classic in the community. We have participants and spectators that come from all over. None as famous as Underdog, formerly known as Suzanne Muldowney. This year, she celebrated the 60^th Anniversary of Underdog. She won the Best TV/Movie Character Award and the 4^th Annual Linda Ewing Halloween Achievement Award.”

Of the many entertainments to see during the parade, the local dance company performances are a highlight of the tradition.

Joanne Regan Dance Studios had a spectacularly spooky performance that captivated the crowd-flooded sidewalks.

It was followed by Cape May Dancer’s visually stunning and narrative homage to Alice in Wonderland, and Art of Gymnastic and Cheer’s Hocus Pocus themed number.
