The month of April blessed southern New Jersey with a good amount of rain. Despite a continuing statewide drought emergency in New Jersey, nature has been kind to Cape May again this year. Abundant blossoms and budding flowers are everywhere!
Tulips, which have been a tradition here owing to the legendary origins of Cape May and her Dutch Captain, have lingered longer this year than in the past. Cherry blossoms like those on our cover this month have been huge and plentiful. And the lilacs, some decades old, are ripe and wonderfully fragrant. Soon an orchestra of roses will appear adding even more color and delight.
We thought it appropriate this May to give you a peek at the abundance of this year’s floral growth. There are few places on earth where you can smell such a variety of Spring flowers that dazzle the eyes while listening to the rhythm of ocean waves… This is Cape May!
