Soma NewArt Gallery presents Sandra Bloodworth’s exhibit Urban Principals and Samuel Donovan’s New Watercolors.  The exhibit opened Saturday, Oct. 20 and will continue through Nov. 25.

SOMA NewArt gallery is located in Carpenters Square Mall, 31 Perry Street.

Bloodworth’s life-size portraits of artists, curators, poets and designers, all of whom are in the public realm. Each painting is of an individual that has contributed significantly to a public dialogue that inspires and challenges us to think and look at things in new and different ways. “The brief time I spend with each of my subjects and my familiarity with their art work helped me to capture various glimpses of their personalities.”
Sandra’s portraits strive to find that moment where they might just come down off the wall and engage you in conversation.
Also on the wall next to each painting will be displayed a brief biography of the subject.

Sam Donovan will present new watercolor paintings of subjects from his everyday life that interest and insipre him.
Sam has been painting all his life, he has painted billboards that line the roadways of South Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, Sam hand painted huge liquor ads and Marlboro Men, large scale murals for homes and businesses with subjects as diverse as can be imagined: from a 400 square foot Tasty Cake painting at their Philadelphia factory, to several monster murals on the streets of Philadelphia.

Now Sam turns his attention to the things he loves, the outdoors, the dairy farms, the rural landscapes he grew up with, he paints these things to please himself but hopes that you enjoy them too.
